23. De Troende

Sound sculpture, 150x200 cm, Masí stone & Cello, 2011.

The sound resonating through the stones was a 21 minutes cello interpretation of a Qur’an recitation, of surah 23. The sculpture is shaped like a varde (Cairn), witch in Norway are used for navigation. The island was only accessible during ebb. The work was made for Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF) and was the first in the series.

The work was made with support from the LIAF festival, Norwegian Visual Artists Fund and the local community (Havaristene).
