The Happy to Hear Russell Crowe Box

Sound sculpture, 240 x 240 x 240 cm. 2009.

When you push the red button inside, the light in the box goes out and a 35 sec. sound bit emerges. The sound is of air slowly becoming the voice of the actor Russell Crowe. It is based on measurements of the length and width of his vocal cords. The sound was made together with speech scientist Michael D. Hall at James Madison University, VA, USA.
